Why buy iPhone SE insurance?

The iPhone SE has launched, and is the ideal mobile for you if you want an iPhone but find the size of the iPhone 6s a bit too big. The SE shares the same dimensions as the iPhone 5s, and a lot of the styling, but packs in most of the performance and features of the latest iPhone 6s. This makes it a portable and affordable powerhouse of a phone, and is likely to appeal to the many exisitng iPhone users who like the smaller screen size, and lots of Android users who were previously put off by the high price tag.

The iPhone SE does still cost at least £359, so it's a pricey mobile phone that you'll want to keep protected. Should you drop the SE and need to replace a cracked screen that's likely to cost in the region of £90, and to replace it due to loss, theft or irreparable damage would cost another £359! So if you think there's a reasonable chance that you could drop or lose your iPhone you'll probably want to consider insurance for it.

Apple do offer their own extended warranty called AppleCare+, but there are limits on the number of claims that this covers, and it doesn't cover theft or accidental loss. Tinhat iPhone insurance costs just £6.49 a month, or £7.49 a month if you need full loss cover. We also have one of the lowest excess fees in the market, at only £50 per claim.

We're also one of the first mobile phone insurers to offer a no claims bonus to our customers. If you insure your iPhone SE today and don't claim in the first year, your excess fee will reduce by 25% when you make a claim. It reduces by a further 25% for each year of no claims that you have with us - so if you still have no claims after 4 years you won't have to pay any excess if you then make a claim.

Unauthorised callsUnauthorised calls

If your SE is lost or stolen we will cover up to £2,500 of unauthorised usage.

Accidental lossAccidental loss (additional £1 a month)

Covers you for the replacement of your iPhone SE if you accidentally lose it.

What happens if I lose or damage my iPhone SE?

Our iPhone SE insurance covers you for accidental damage (including liquid damage) as standard, so if you break it you'll first need to submit a claim. Once your claim is approved you will need to pay an excess fee of £50 and supply your evidence of ownership - and then you'll be asked to send your iPhone in to one of our specialist repair centres.

If your iPhone is stolen then you will need to contact your network provider immediately to report this and block any unauthorised usage, and you'll need to report it to the police and supply our policy administrator with the crime reference number. Once your claim is approved and you've supplied evidence of ownership and paid the £50 excess fee, we'll send you a replacement iPhone SE.

Keeping your iPhone SE safe

If you're buying an iPhone SE on contract or sim free you'll probably want to consider gettting it insured. There are many ways to help keep your iPhone SE safe, such as placing it in a case and concealing it when not in use - but here are a few less obvious ways for you to protect your iPhone and the data on it:

iPhone SE theft
Keep your iPhone SE safe from sticky fingered thieves by keeping it concealed in a secure bag or pocket when not in use.
Find your iPhone SE
If you lose your iPhone SE you can try to locate it again using the Apple Find My Phone app. If it's been stolen you can remotely lock it to help protect your data.
iPhone SE backup
Backup your iPhone SE to iCloud regularly to avoid losing your data if your iPhone is damaged beyond repair, lost or stolen. This can be scheduled to run automatically.
