iPhone 6s insurance

The new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus have launched, and are available to pre-order! They'll set you back somewhere between £539 and £789, so if you’re planning to take the plunge and buy an iPhone 6s or 6s Plus on contract or pay for it outright you’re going to want to look after it. Here are our top tips for protecting your new iPhone.

Wait until you get home

Don’t be like this Australian chap who dropped his shiny new iPhone 6 on concrete straight after leaving the shop.

We know you’re excited to take a look at your iPhone 6s, but you’re unlikely to have it insured straight away, and you won’t have a case fitted – so be patient and wait until you’re home or somewhere else that’s safe before you try to unbox it.

Fit a case and screen protector

With Apple’s product launches being so secretive it’s historically taken a little while for third-party manufacturers to provide good quality cases and screen protectors for the iPhone. Apple cottoned onto this and started making their own cases for the iPhone 5c, 6 and 6 Plus. We expect them to do the same for the iPhone 6s, and if you don’t mind the premium price tag it’s a good idea to buy one at the same time as buying your phone. A case will prevent most cosmetic damage (which an insurance policy won’t cover you for) and even if the screen protector doesn’t stop the glass from breaking, it will increase the chances of it being usable while you wait for a repair or replacement.

Get covered

You might already have mobile phone insurance included on your home contents policy or premium bank account - but if you don't, or that cover isn't suitable, you might want to consider getting standalone insurance for your new iPhone 6s. Quality cover shouldn't be expensive, so get a quote online today.
