Buy games console insurance now
You will not believe the amount of Nintendo switches and other consoles that get caught up in family arguements, dropped at airports or stolen. That's why we offer portable games console insurance; to keep your family's gadgets safe.
What's covered?
In addition to our games console insurance, we also offer cover for a number of different gadgets - including mobile phones, smartwatches, laptops and cameras. What's more, you can add multiple different gadgets to the same policy. The premium you pay depends on the value of your gadget, so our policies can start from as little as £4.49 a month (or £49.39 annually). Our policies cover you against:
Accidental damage (including liquid damage)
Covers accidentally cracked screens, spilling a cup of tea on your games consoles, and any other damage that prevents the games consoles from functioning normally. Accidental damage does not cover general wear and tear or purely cosmetic damage.
Mechanical breakdown
Covers you for repairs and replacements to your games consoles if they suddenly stops working outside the manufacturer's warranty. By renewing your policy with us you can continue to cover your gadget for a further 5 years.
Unlimited use Worldwide
This policy keeps you covered anywhere in the world for as long as you need. Most insurers limit your allowed trip length.
Theft
Covers you for any damage or loss resulting from your phone being stolen, as long as it is in your possession or stored in a secure place out of sight.
Unauthorised calls
If your games consoles are lost or stolen we will cover up to £10,000 of unauthorised calls.

Additional Benefits
At Tinhat we offer some of the cheapest games console insurance in the UK, but pride ourselves on offering policies that are fit for purpose. That's why, on top of comprehensive coverage, we offer:

At Tinhat, if you make a claim your excess will be £50 for gadgets valued up to £400, £75 for phones up to £750 and £100 for gadgets valued at £751 or more. It's the same for all types of claim.

Unlike many insurance policies your gadget is also covered while being used by immediate family, with no restrictions on their age. This also means that if you want to insure your child's gadgets you can do so in your name.

Some insurers impose limits on the number of claims you can make, or have different limits for different types of claim. At Tinhat there is no limit to the number of claims that you can make.

If your gadget is less than 60 days old, we'll cover it from the date that you purchase your policy. So if you buy your gadget insurance today, you can get peace of mind straight away.
Key exclusions
All games console insurance policies contain exclusions, and Tinhat is no different. That said, we think ours are some of the fairest and simplest to understand and we're keen to make sure that you're aware of them before purchasing:
games console exclusions
Second hand gadgets - unfortunately we can't cover any second hand games consoles. That includes second hand laptops bought from private individuals and also second hand goods stores like CeX.
games consoles bought more than 12 months ago- if you bought your games consoles new more than 12 months ago you won't be able to insure it with Tinhat.
Refurbished games consoles that were bought without 12-month warranty - we can't insure refurbished games consoles that were bought without at least a 12-month warranty.
Claims for incidents within the first 14 days of taking out your policy (unless your laptop is less than 60 days) - this is to help us prevent fraudulent claims, which in turn allows us to provide affordable insurance to our genuine customers.
Accidental damage exclusions
Cosmetic Damage - our insurance policies don't cover things like scratches, stains or minor chips to the body of your laptop. We can repair your laptop if it's broken, but we can't restore it to new condition.
Theft Exclusions
Theft from inside commercial vehicles - so if you're a taxi driver, this insurance won't cover you for theft while you're using your vehicle.
Theft from an unattended personal vehicle - unless your gadget is out of view in a closed compartment and the vehicle is locked.
Theft in a public place where your gadget is left unattended - for example, if you leave your gadget on a pub table and it's stolen while you go to buy a drink. Our insurance still requires you to take reasonable precautions to protect your gadget.

Is it worth insuring your games consoles?
Some gamers may choose not to insure their consoles under a separate policy. If you've got a couple of old consoles lying around the house that rarely leave the premises, it may be a better choice to include them under your contents insurance policy. Or if you purchased an extended warranty with your console, this may already cover you in case of damage, lessening your need to buy insurance.
However, if you regularly play the latest current generation games and enjoy travelling with handheld consoles, it makes sense to choose a separate gadget insurance policy that covers you in case of loss, damage or theft
